I'm exchanging 12 home made cards with a friend, so this fits right in. Big chunky Huggins filled with Bumper and Opus. I really like the finished effort. :)
And I've just come back from a trip, so I'm WAAAY behind on my spinner (homemade), but I'm definitely going to finish. It's so nice to revisit the "original" zentangles.
Looking at the finished product, I feel like I've let Antonine down. I tried a few different variations, but I'm not really happy with the final tile. I WILL say that I was pretty zen doing them though, so it's still a win.
Fengle and Poke Root. Neither are big favorites of mine, which means this challenge was a challenge. I played around a while and this is the best I could do. I just don't know how to make Poke Root interesting. I look forward to seeing what you guys have come up with. (I never peek before I post.)
This week's Diva Challenge was for everyone to use the same string, and perhaps make four to create a mosaic. Never one to back down from a challenge, and what the heck it was a rainy day, so what else was there to do...

Top Left: Copada, Knyt, Fracas
Top Right: Aura Leah, Shattuck, (Grrr... messed up that one in the middle), Coil, Ahh
Bottom Left: Diva Dance, A-Fog, Florz, Pepper
Bottom Right: Phicops, Queen's Crown, Mooka/Laced (also wonky), and ------?

My question to you esteemed CZTs is how do you choose which tangles to use together? I'm kind of hit and miss on these. My Shattuck shouldn't have been next to Aura Leah. My A-Fog. was too similar to the Diva Dance. Is there a rule of thumb on how to choose which tangles to put adjacent to others? Weight, style, box vs. ribbon vs. organic? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks,

This week's Diva challenge was to take a blob of paint and fold the paper to make two "tiles". I used some watercolor pencils to start my Halloween tributes. These were a bit more intensive than my usual tiles, and by the end of the second tile, my hand was TIRED! Just means I need a bit more tangling, or maybe a bit more wine :-)

Top tile: Articulated Molygon, Pendrills, Barber Pole, Indy Rella, Drawings, Gourdgeous, and Quib.
Bottom tile: Purk, Dragonaire, Snails, Zinger, Aquafleur, Swarm, and Myst.
Hmmmm... the samples looked liked brains. I looked on the web, they looked like brains... or intestines... or I don't know what. Surely there was a labyrinth out there that would resonate. All I needed was one long boring meeting and the mystery was solved. What would we do without boring meetings?!!!
All my attempts to do something "globular" were epic fails, so I figured I needed to dial in the focus a bit closer. Being in a rainy climate, this represents the earth I'm familiar with.
Cheating, maybe, but it fits the Diva Challenge so perfectly, I couldn't resist... and leaves more time to make pie with the kids. ;)
This week's Diva Challenge was to use a touch of green. I had been working on some rocks to scatter about the workplace on Tuesday...

...so I just used the same pattern and tangled it. The gold is really so beautiful in person, but like others have mentioned, it just doesn't scan. Oh well.

I just love the celtic knots, but they're not easy to replicate freehand!

And Antonine convinced me to try the Zendala Dare at Brightowl, She's right. That's a big time commitment, but it's a different way to tangle!

Sketched it out, and really liked it... then I added the weave. Hmmm... Needs a background, so I added the bubbles. Hmmm... Maybe if I color in the flowers. Ugh.... That's the busiest thing I've ever seen!

That's one really great thing about computers... the Undo. I know there's no Undo (or mistakes) in Zentangle, but sheesh, I'm feeling a lot of CTRL+Z on this tile.
Since I've been quilling lately, I thought "Why not!"

Well, what I discovered is that it's a lot easier to draw bisecting lines than it is to quill them. That's probably why not. I thought I'd drafted out something pretty simple, but it still took me two evenings to finish.

I'm very pleased with the results though. I think it might need a lovely black matt and a shiny red wood frame.
Here's another project I finished last weekend. I just love it when a project turns out EXACTLY like you see it in your head when you start. That happens so rarely. This is for a friend at work that just had his first baby - a girl. He named her Vennela which means "moonlight". The "moon" is a gold paper with some white mesh stuff over it, so I thought it looked a bit like golden moonlight. It's very pretty in real life.

I don't know diddly about goats... or sheep. I was just finishing up my tile trying to convince myself it was worth posting and the boyfriend walks by and says "Looks like the Trix Rabbit ears."

Well, my heck! Once you see it, you can't UNSEE it, so here's my Year of the Rabbit tile (and a really crooked scan!).

I'm either 4 years too late, or 9 years early. Your choice.
