Weekly Challenge #194 - Embrace the Yuck

What? Drawing with your non-dominant hand. I'm totally skipping this week's Diva Challenge.
(chicken)

Maybe it would be interesting to try.
(doubt it)

C'mon... how bad could it be?
(bad)

So I ignored me, and did it anyway. I must say my left hand cramped up trying to listen to my brain. I found it much easier to move my whole left arm rather than trying to move my hand. And although it ended up being an underwater, wiggly creation, I'm glad I ignored me and did it anyway.

Patterns used: Mooka, Tipple, Lokar and Yincut

  1. It's beautiful. And it is actually better to draw with your whole arm than just with your hand :)

  4. Wow!!! Mooka? Really?!!! My nemesis tangle and you rocked it with your left!!! I'm picturing this under water scene and your free flowing lines give the whole thing a gentle movement, like a river flowing. Very cool.

  8. Did you do the shading with your non-dom too? That shading is amazing! I did mine on black paper to avoid shading....am fairly new to this so it was hard to know what would work and then you finally realize that it should be a freeing experience and then you start relaxing with it. I want to redo mine with black pen on white just for that reason...this process is compelling.

    1. I did the shading left handed using a paper stump or tortillion. They're magical when you use a 2B or softer pencil. I'm still new to it as well, so I tend to do too much shading, but isn't that always the way when you find a new toy?!

  9. I agree with all above, you were right to ignore you and do it anyway. Your shading is great and your design is imaginative. I see nothing but good here. Bravo!

  10. I'm glad you ignored yourself and went ahead with the challenge. I agree, it's difficult but strangely freeing. Yours looks great and the movement works beautifully
