Weekly Challenge #206 - Tools of the Trade

The Diva Challenge this week was to tangle with different tools. Since I've been quilling lately, I thought "Why not!"

Well, what I discovered is that it's a lot easier to draw bisecting lines than it is to quill them. That's probably why not. I thought I'd drafted out something pretty simple, but it still took me two evenings to finish.

I'm very pleased with the results though. I think it might need a lovely black matt and a shiny red wood frame.

Patterns used: C-bun, Phicops, Fescu and, um... wiggly stuff.

Closer detail...

Here's another project I finished last weekend. I just love it when a project turns out EXACTLY like you see it in your head when you start. That happens so rarely. This is for a friend at work that just had his first baby - a girl. He named her Vennela which means "moonlight". The "moon" is a gold paper with some white mesh stuff over it, so I thought it looked a bit like golden moonlight. It's very pretty in real life.

  5. I've been quilling lately too, but not nearly as well as you (I'm a beginner and have mostly only posted inchies for Every Inchie Monday) I'm so impressed. Your pattern and colour are stunning and to do it with quilling paper is fabulous. Wow.

  13. Wow, what a fantastic effect you've created. It's really very beautiful indeed. I am not sure I'd have the patience to do it myself - I can appreciate the time it must have taken to get it so perfect. Axxx

  15. Annette Carlo told me to come visit you :) Love your zenquilling! I've had the idea to combine the two ever since I discovered Zentangle. I am letting the idea brew in my head, it will come out when ready. Your monogram is also beautiful.

  16. Wow! This is stunning. I love the way the shadows from the the quills give it depth. I bet it changes as well with changing light. I have never done quilling but I can imagine that it took a long time to do. Thanks for sharing.
